The kit arrives
The kit we ordered is from LMI. It is their serviced kit and has great materials.

Back with bracing in progress
This is a picture of the back of the guitar with the bracing partially in place. The bracing came by way of a spruce log. You basically have to cut and scallop your own. The back I believe also uses some cedar braces.
The back with replacement D28 strip
We decided to forget the strip that came with the kit for the back and opted for the traditional D28 strip.
A view of the top with bracing
You can see most of the bracing in place on the soundboard here. This is before the bridge plate was installed. By the way, the bridgeplate that came with the kit was rosewood. We wisely replaced it with maple.
Top being joined with sides
This is yet another look at the bracing on the top. Since the grain was so tightly spaced on the soundboard, the braces were made a bit shorter and slimmer to allow more vibration. The gray mass you see where the two main braces meet is carbon fiber. You won't see it when the guitar is complete unless you have a mirror and lightbulb, and it will make the guitar stronger without sacrificing tone.

Sitka Spruce Soundboard
The soundboard is Sitka Spruce. It is very tightly grained and beautiful. The rosette is 28 style Golden Era.
Top and sides are joined
The top and sides are joined here. Also, the channel for the binding and perfling has been cut.
The back is joined to the sides
Here the back is joined to the sides. All of the those round clamps you see were made by my dad. Like most luthiers, he makes an awful lot of his clamps, cauls, scrapers, forms, etc.
