The COOLEST Guitar Ever Made

After binding the fingerboard with Ivoroid, Dad inlays the abalone snowflakes.

This picture is kind of bad in that the flash over exposed part of the peg head, but you can get a good look at the ebony veneer. It was even lighter and stripier (is 'stripier' a word?), but at my request Dad dyed it a bit darker. It did retain some of it's unique characteristics which looks great.

Here is a look at the side dot markers.

Dad just installed the frets (above).

Here's a nice look at the body as it awaits it's neck. Note: the bridge is merely taped on here and won't be installed until later.

Here the fingerboard is being glued to the neck. Notice the really big rubber bands. They are really long! The kids loved to play with them. :o)

A top view of the same procedure.

Here is the fingerboard after being attached to the neck. Also notice the cool Pendergraft inlay. Just kidding. It's a decal that I designed. It's gold. I think it looks very nice on the ebony.

The neck has been attached now.
The bridge has not yet been installed. That's next!

Here is the guitar when dad is pretty much finished with it. He only needs to do some light work on the finish (and snip off the ends of the strings!).

The back. This is after I have taken it home and the finish has been buffed out a bit.

Here is the front of the finished product. Note the Tor-Tis light colored pick guard. Luthier John Greven invented the material. It's really cool. This kind of pickguard is vintage style and you can also see it on Martin's Clarence White model I believe.

A closeup of the peghead. You can also see that I replaced the gold Schaller buttons with ebony buttons. They are much lighter, plus I think they look great! A closeup of this great guitar.

This guitar is a one of a kind work of art. It's tone is awesome too. Lot's of bass without being "boomy". I'm also amazed at the clarity of the mid and highs. It's very well balanced and it's tone is complex. I will have it for the rest of my life, and it will simply get better and better. Thanks Dad for building such an incredible instrument. It will always be in the Pendergraft family.
